College of Education

Deans Trip Abroad

During the summer of 2014, I spent two weeks touring France and Spain with the College of Education. We spent the first week in several cities in France including: Paris, Nimes, Carcassonne,  and Provence. The second week was spent in Spain touring: Barcelona, Madrid and Toledo.

I learned so much while studying abroad. I learned about European culture and about history, art and politics from our tour guides. I loved being a independent traveler. Some of my favorite times were when we had the freedom to explore. It was eye-opening and inspiring to see how people live so differently than we do in the U.S. After traveling to Europe, I wanted to enjoy the small things in life by living more simply and having a thankful attitude.

The trip will be a fun thing to share with my students. Having shared my experience with my students already, I noticed how intrigued they were to hear about the trip. Many of my students have not ever traveled let alone to another country. As a teacher it is essential to have an openness and acceptance of other cultures. This study abroad trip was a great way for me to expand my cultural awareness. I am excited to continue to share my experiences from this trip with my students.

Below I have included a lot of pictures from our trip!
