Creative Writing
Poetry

I took a poetry class for my creative writing requirement. We spent each week writing and workshopping poems. I had never really written poetry until this course. I really enjoyed expressing myself creatively and exploring different genres of poetry.
Speculative Fiction
At the end of the semester, we had to put together a Chapbook of our best poetry from the semester. We edited our poems and created a visual holding space for our poems. The pictures on the left represent what I created to hold my poetry. Below is the link to the poems that were a part of my Chapbook.
Project
For an elective credit I took a class about Speculative Fiction. In this course we examined some key questions about our future--climate change, technology, apocalypse, survival, human vs animal and many other topics. Literary texts are primary; however, we learned some science, some theories about gender, language, war/peace, and our relationships with and kinship with animals.
I wrote a short story for this course called The Populater's. This story explored the issue of fertility. I wrote about a future world where only a select remainder of women are fertile. And the fertile women are contained in a district controlled by the government. Although the story has a hopeful ending, I tried to convey a dystopian society.
